LIVINGSTONE, ZAMBIA - The first iteration of the Pan-African School for Emerging Astronomers (PASEA) 2022 was a huge success.

This year, instructors arrived from Toronto, Canada, Vancouver Canada, Enugu, Nigeria, and Lusaka, Zambia. Students began to arrive on October 9th for a one-week intensive astronomy course. Being the first time outside of West Africa, we welcomed an interesting cohort of 42 students from the West, East, North, and South of Africa.

Highlights of this school include:

The goals of the program are to contribute to building a critical mass of astronomers, to build a community of future scientific leaders in West Africa, and to exchange ideas about teaching and learning across continents.
